Individuals and societies

MYP individuals and societies encourages learners to respect and understand the world around them and equips them with necessary skills to inquire into historical, contemporary, geographical, political, social, economic, religious, technological and cultural factors that have an impact on individuals, societies and environment. It encourages learners to consider local and global contexts.
This subject group incorporates disciplines traditionally studied under general term „humanities“, in our school divided into 2 subjects – history and geography. The study of individuals and societies helps students to appreciate critically the diversity of human culture, attitudes, beliefs, and to develop their identities as individuals and as responsible members of local and global communities. Studies are essential for developing empathy and international-mindedness.

Criteria
Assessment for individuals and societies courses in all years of the programme is criterion-related, based on four equally weighted assessment criteria:

Criterion A: Knowing and understanding
Criterion B: Investigating
Criterion C: Communicating
Criterion D: Thinking critically
